Sweet Shoe Rack

If you, like me, enjoy the Design Within Reach catalog but are inspired to ask: "within whose reach, exactly?" when you look at the prices, then you'll like this tutorial from Not Martha. A simple pine and "L" bracket solution to the DWR shoe rack. DudeCraft note: Although they have their place, I think "L" brackets are pretty ugly. If you simply use a third piece of pine for each shelf that connects the top and bottom pieces, You'll have a much cleaner looking end result. link

  1. I like this, but I agree that the L-brackets are not as clean. I also suspect this works best when the shoes are similarly sized. Some other mods would be necessary for my rather -ahem- varied shoe collection.

  2. C- Thanks for the comment. Yeah, what's up with "L" brackets and DIY? Lack of access to saws I suppose.

  4. I made a prototype of this out of scrap at work after seeing the aluminum version online. After completing it, I realized I gained no more space than having shelves. Unless you are using tall boots or high-tops, you can place one shoe on the shelf and one on the top board sideways and have even less space taken up (not hanging out). It does look cool, though.
