Sunday in the Studio - Weaving Unloomed

Playing around with some of the ideas from Sister Diane's new ebook, Weaving Unloomed, today. Above are my first attempts at her woven embroidery technique. Of course, I did what I always do, I looked at the instructions and then forged ahead without glancing at them again until after I was finished. Stupid man. It also didn't help that The Magnificent Seven was on TV while I was doing this and I kept glancing away to watch Steve McQueen and Yul Brenner battle bandidos. Janky result aside, the technique is super fun and I can think of tons of things I'd like to try it on, once I get a little better at it. Check out the awesome ebook here.

Nicely done, and not at all janky! Steve McQueen + weaving is a fine combination for a Saturday. :-)

Aw, thanks. I think the circle is more in keeping with the original idea. I look forward to more practice today!

I'm liking the Steve McQueen/craft juxtaposition too! (Although I prefer to watch 'The Flying Nun' whilst I make stuff!)

The Flying Nun? Like with Sally Field? Is that still on t.v. down there? Wow.

Yes, I agree. You can definitely trust a man who weaves and watches action films.
I quite like the square one ...

Wendy - Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I think the action film thing balances out the man to craft ratio. Knitting to the Dirty Dozen, Crocheting to The Great Escape, embroidering to Die Hard. What could be more macho? :-)
