Gort - Part Two

Finally, finally, finally finished the tool box today for the craft book. It's about to go in the mail, but I thought I'd share the finished product with you, dear readers, before it wings its way to Portland for the photo shoot. Also, I've included pictures of my trashed studio. Vacuum time!!!

  9. If you hadn't told me it was a tool box and would have thought it was an installed mosaic in some building...striking...

  12. Matt - Thanks. I took some process shots, so I'll be glad to share it with you. The short version is that it's actually quite easy, although time consuming. I took a still from the movie, upped the contrast, photo copied, did some touch-ups with a pencil and then transferred it to the box using transfer paper from a fabric store. Then I cut up lots of magazines and junk mail and decoupaged them to the tool box using Mod Podge. Pretty easy. But, be warned, we are talking days here, not hours. Cheers.

  18. Well, I'm incredibly amused that you got Boing Boinged. Especially as you've commented in the past that a lot of your challenge as a blogger is to find cool stuff before they do!

Completely deserved, too, this is fabulous work!

  22. Wow! I have a couple tool boxes I've been saving for decoupage treatment, but didn't really know how I wanted to handle 'em. After seeing yours, I think at least one will have to have the mosaic effect - yours is just so fantastic!
