It's okay! You're not having a flashback. DeviantArt member, back2root just made this trippy little side table out of recycled oak in his spare time. Nice job.
Wow, that is so surreal! It evokes so much, it makes me want to stare at it, on the off chance it slips down to the floor. It makes me want to dance, due to it's movement. It makes me want to touch it, as it looks so smooth and fluid. It makes me think of stalactites and stalagmites, and melting toffee, and it makes me want to write some kind of magical fantasy story. Has any other table ever offered so much?
I am an novice carver and mostly carve from patterns this has completely inspired me. I believe I will try and make a lamp that is somewhat similar (though I wont steal what you have done). How long did it take you to carve this, if you don't mind me asking. Thanks for posting and cheers.
Eric - The guy who did this (not me) said it took him 4 weeks in his spare time. Click on his name in the post to go to his gallery page. Thanks for the comment!!
Paul Overton is a prolific blogger, maker, writer, and ukulele player living in Durham, NC with four dogs, two co-conspirators, and a lawn that makes his octogenarian neighbors want to call the authorities. He delights in the unusual and can often be found in his tiny studio next to the record shop, whipping up some sort of self-indulgent nonsense for his own amusement.

About DudeCraft
DudeCraft represents a different kind of tribe in the world of making things, intentionally blurring the lines between, art, craft, engineering, and the good old “Can Do” spirit. Makers of all stripes are welcome here and are encouraged to join the conversation, no matter what their enthusiasms. Guys who knit, girls who weld, it’s all the same on DudeCraft. We are people who make cool stuff, have an urge to share it, and don’t mind explaining how we did it, so that other folks can benefit from our experience.

dawn - Ha! It made me think of Hobbits for some reason. Of course, I'm clearly insane. :-) Thanks for the comment!
