Goodbye Pork Pie Hat

I'm digging these hats made from a new kind of washi paper! If they can make me a stingy brim pork pie, I'll break out the credit card immediately. This from the site:
"designer Naoto Fukasawa has created a series of hats that are made entirely out of traditional japanese washi-paper. the three pieces entitled 'ivy cap', 'hat', and 'tyrolean hat', are constructed from a new type of paper called 'naoron' developed by washi-paper manufacturer onao which withstands both moisture and weight, resulting in a lightweight material that does not tear easily."

  3. i'm looking at these hats and the description of the material and wondering if it isn't possible to make similar hats out of tyvek material. lightweight, waterproof, crushable... better than using mailers to make wallets maybe?

  4. David - I'm sure it is. The material is certainly both straong and waterproof. Is Tyvek breathable though? You should download a pattern, make a hat and report back. Thanks for the comment.
