The Upside Down Dome

The Upside Dome" by Gijs Van Vaerenbergh in St Michel Church In Leuven - Belgium. An installation made of hanging chains symbolizing the missing dome of this baroc edifice.

This reminds me of the upside down models that Antoni Gaudi built out of string and tiny bags filled with shot in order to determine column placement for each Catenary arch in a building. He would then photograph them and turn them upside down to view the resulting structure (photo below). Cool, huh? Even cooler if you see it in person. If you happen to be in Barcelona, don't miss all the Gaudi attractions.
