WWII - The Homefront in Color


I always think of photographs from this era as black and white. Turns out, there were quite a few color photographs taken during WWII and The Atlantic has a gallery of some of the best, including many (new to me) shots of women working in aircraft plants. Fantastic.

  2. there's a great book out (you can get it at Amazon, etc) called "Bound For Glory: America in Color 1939-43". Wonderful pre-war color photographs and a nice coffee-table book (NAYY, I just happen to own it and like it).
