Motohiko Odani
I am more than digging on these incredible sculptures by artist Motohiko Odani. Twisty, turny, organicky goodness.

Saw Blade Sculpture
Jim MacKenzie did a bang up job on this saw blade sculpture. A+ in the reuse department. I don't know that I'd want toddlers, pets or ultimate frisbee tournaments to get too close to this thing, though.

Vader in Type
Darth Vader made from type using his own quotes? Yes, that is so freakin' awesome no matter how geeky it is! Way to go Evan Travelstead!

Gas Mask Ring
File under: not at all practical and probably uncomfortable, but unassailably cool, this gas mask ring I found on Man Illusion is a must have for, well, somebody.
Motoi Yamamoto Amazes Again!
Over a year ago, I featured artist Motoi Yamamoto's work here on DudeCraft. He continues to be one of my favorite artists out there, especially his works made from salt. There's something very calming about these pieces. They remind me of the mandalas that Tibetan monks make. Beautiful. More here.

Teagan White
Smacking of hand-crafted goodness, these illustrations by Teagan White are hitting the spot on a cold Thursday morning. A dash of vintage vibe while having both feet firmly planted in the present. Nicely Done. More here.

Good With Wood - Richard Pearse

Wednesday
1,000,000
Well, it seems as though, while I was sleeping and without much ceremony, DudeCraft reached its one millionth visit. I'm not much for counting numbers, but I am big into thank yous. So, from the bottom of my heart, thanks to all of you who have visited in the last two years. Thanks for your comments, compliments, criticism, and just lurking. It took all of you to reach that ginormous number and I seriously appreciate every second you've spent visiting my little corner of the internet. Cheers.
Love,
Paul

Sol Cinema
Oh yes. I do have a soft spot for little things and movies and solar power. So, how could I not love the Sol Cinema, the worlds smallest solar powered movie theater? This from their website:
"The Sol Cinema is a micro movie house powered entirely by the Sun.
We can accommodate 8 adults comfortably for a unique cinematic experience. We have a full library of comedy, quirky, music videos and short films with inspiring environment themes.Sol Cinema is an ideal solution for showing short videos within your community, festival, event or party. We are a non-profit project from the award winning charity, Undercurrents."
I would love to have about ten of these and just run different features all day. What a cool festival that would be, huh?

New Dude Craft Ad Space Available
Ahoy readers!
I bring you this special bulletin from the department of Dude Craft advertising. Regularly scheduled awesomeness will continue momentarily.
Since I started the hand-picked sidebar advertising program a few months back, things have been going great guns. The sponsors are happy, I'm happy, so it's win-win. But I'd like it to be win-win-win. That's where you come in.
I'm opening up ten more advertising spots in the sidebar for folks that fit the Dude Craft vibe. I'm all about making it easy and affordable for small businesses to advertise on the site, so don't be afraid to take a gander at the rate card and decide if Dude Craft is for you. You'll find all the pertinent information like visitor numbers, rates, and special discounts inside. Oh, and if you have any questions, you know that I'm always just an email away.
Here's what some other sponsors are saying:
“Since beginning to advertise on Dudecraft last fall, knithacker.com has experienced a noticeable boost in category-targeted traffic. In fact, Dudecraft quickly became the site's second-top referer, nestled comfortably between Twitter and Facebook. I'm pleased with the results so far! In addition, Paul is careful, thoughtful and a pleasure to deal with.”
- Lily from KnitHacker.com
“At first thought, DudeCraft seemed an atypical advertising choice for us—but we wanted to support Paul and his work. To our immense pleasure our DudeCraft ad has matched, if not outperformed, our other blog ads at the same price point. Paul is lovely to work with, and advertising with DudeCraft has proved to be a good value for access to an intelligent, interested audience: we see that DudeCraft readers don't just click over, but consistently stay on for a while to browse.”
-Liz from Cosa Verde
“The only place I have ever advertised is DudeCraft and I couldn't be happier. The rates are very fair, and my business has been very steady as a result. Paul is a pleasure to work with and I very much enjoy that it feels more like a friendship than just a business relationship.”
-Pat from Neuron Rebellion

Sofa XXXX
Don't let the name fool you into thinking this story is NSFW, unless you're talking about furniture being sexy!!! This couch by Yuya Ushida is made from 8000 chopsticks, individually cut to four different lengths, then put together with a series of rings and clever joinery. It took three months to construct and, apparently, it can hold the weight of three peopple weighing 70kg each. Wow!

Are You Freaking Kidding Me?
Is this some kind of cruel joke? A shack on a rock surrounded by the calm tidal waters of Zanzibar? It's like a dream, wrapped in a fantasy, covered with WANT! I don't often find myself in full-blown covetous mode, but to my great shame, this place has put me there. May I please have it?

Paperwork - Sabrina Transiskus
There's a reason Sabrina Transiskus' client list reads like a who's who of high end consumer goods. She turns our some a-maze-ing paper work. Check out that hat!

I am digging these reconstituted advertisements and road warning signs by artist and scavenger, Fabio Zenino. Killer stuff for your loft, to be certain.

Accordion Cabinet
Sometimes you just have to respect the amount of thought that goes into a piece. Is Elisa Strozyk + Sebastian Neeb's Accordion Cabinet my favorite piece of furniture ever? No. Could I look at it for hours, marveling over the elegant, laser cut pieces that make up the folds of this wooden textile piece? Most definitely.

Dennis Maher's Buffalo
I've always had a thing for decay. Abandoned buildings, rust, paint peeling...I love it all. So does sculptor Dennis Maher who has made his home in the rust belt city of Buffalo, NY, lovingly making these sentimental representations out of the urban fragments he finds in the city. Hooray for decay.

Lady Gaga's Children's Book - Telephone
Super brilliant. Illustrator Andrew Kolb has worked his retro magic on this inane pop jingle, turning it into something that I actually like. No offense, Gaga. More pages at Colossal.
