I'm loving these genius little planters made from plastic toys by Plaid Pigeon. I especially love the Dinos. How cool would these be in a kid's room?! Pick yours up at her Etsy shop.

New Work from Hina Aoyama
It's been a minute since I featured anything by Japanese born artist, Hina Aoyama, and when I saw this crazy heron, I knew it was high time to revisit her work. All done with scissors, by the way. Yep. Ridiculously talented.

Tardis as Toilet
The Brooklyn bar, Way Station has its own Tardis which is also their toilet and, yes, it is bigger inside than it is outside. Something tells me The Doctor would not be pleased.
p.s. If you're thinking about making a joke about renaming it The Turdis, you've been beaten to the punch. :-)

Darren Booth's Painted Word
It's like a lettering fiesta around here lately, isn't it? Well, like a lot of stuff, these things usually come in threes. In any case, happy to add the painterly lettering of Darren Booth to the mix. Loving both the forms and the palette!

Sponsor Love
In case your eyes haven't wandered to the sidebar for awhile, I wanted to alert you to all the rad new sponsors as well as the rad veterans that are occupying that space. In the last month alone, I've picked up an eco-friendly printer, an awesome jewelry artisan,a leather belt rug maker, and a purveyor of fine mobiles. Please show all my sponsors some love and check out what they have to offer. I guarantee you'll be delighted.
The Letterpress Rug
Digging this floor covering by Liora Manné. Match this with the letterpress wallpaper I blogged about last week and you could be the ultimate type nerd.

DIY Snow Winch
Josh sent me a link to his awesome DIY Snow Winch project yesterday and, I must say, I am mightily impressed. For centuries, man has been looking for a way to go sledding without all the pesky exercise, and Josh has found it! More details on his blog.
Tea Party
Nothing to do with politics, thank goodness. Just a super rad use of tea bags in various states of coloration by artist, Armén Rotch. Like a sea of analog pixels or something. Cool.

50 and 50
50 designers, 50 state mottos. Sounds like a good problem to have. Dan Cassaro is the curatorial super brain behind this project. Why nobody has thought of this before is a mystery. Much more on the site.

Not The End
Love this poster I found over at Swiss Miss. First one in awhile that I've wanted to own. Awesome.
FM Spradio
British artist, Mike Ballard has been making these clever little radios out of empty spray cans instead of tossing them in the landfill. Smart. Very smart.
The Art of Hand Lettering
New awesome blog alert! Alan Ariail's Art of Hand Lettering blog is the shizzle, if you're a big ol' hand lettering nerd like me.

Celestial Toothpicks
I love Franceska McCullough's model of planetary orbits made from over 20,000 toothpicks and some hot glue. Part of a contest put on by Radio 360 in which participants were asked to use unexpected materials to create something unique. Mission accomplished. More winners here.
Sunday
Pop Calaveras
Digging on this limited edition print set by illustrator, Jonathan Koshi. Koshi was inspired by the sugar skulls he often saw in the Mission district around the time of the Dia De Los Muertos celebration. I think Kermit is my favorite.

Canstruction 2010
I posted about Canstruction, the can stacking competition that is helping to end hunger, last year. The sculptures were great then, but they are pretty darned amazing now. Better every year, I'd say. You can check out an even bigger gallery of pics over at If It's Hip, It's Here.
