VW Bug and Bug Trailer
Awesome. A VW Bug pulling a Lambretta on a VW Bug trailer. So, we're using something that breaks down to pull something that breaks down. Nice! Pretty, nonetheless.

The Mighty Mississippi
You don't usually think of the Mississippi River changing its course. Surely, this grand waterway has run the same course for time immemorial. Not so, though, as you can see in these illustrations by cartographer, Harold N. Fisk created in 1944. Wild, huh?

Kasabian - Days are Forgotten
KASABIAN - Days are forgotten from AB/CD/CD on Vimeo.
I'm digging this video by the band, Kasabian. Simple concept, well executed and fun to watch. Couldn't help thinking of the album cover for Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures during this whole thing though. I have to wonder if it was an inspiration. via Fubiz

The Motolady Blog
Hats off to the motolady blog, featuring cool pictures of women and their bikes. Nope, not bikini-clad seat candy. Real women who ride real motorcycles. Awesome. Check it out.
X-Wing Soap Box Derby Car
Well, you know Star Wars posts, like celebrity deaths, always come in threes, right? I just couldn't resist putting this x-wing soap box derby car up this morning. What kid wouldn't want one of these? Heck, I want one of these! Complete with R2 riding shotgun.

Samurai Stormtrooper
I know, I know, second Star Wars post in as many days. But can I help it if Joshua Smith's Stormtrooper/Samurai mashup is just that cool?

Ecovinyl - The Recyclable Turntable
Recent ID graduate, Matthew Lim has come up with this cool concept that he has pitched to Sennheiser, a venerable but underrepresented brand in the audio landscape, especially among young people. Lim's idea of a fully recyclable, plug-and-play turntable/headphone combination is squarely aimed at the coveted 24-35 year-old demographic, appealing to their green leanings and slim budgets. Nice work.

Pencil Jar Made From Pencils
Digging this clever promotional piece by Korean designer, Giha Woo. Much respect for the clean and invisible joinery.

Stormtrooper Family Car Stickers
I, for one, am a little tired of seeing crack-and-peel stick figure families in the back windows of mini-vans everywhere. Finally, there's an alternative. Employees of the Empire rejoice! Find them on Etsy for $11.50.

Dia De Los Tokyo - Japanese/Mexican folk art mash up
Jonathan Koshi is the creative force behind these brilliant sugar skull prints. Gotta get me an Ultra Man! Thanks to Todd for the linkage!
Ghostly Chicken Wire Figures
Here's a cool idea for halloween...why not populate your property with eerie wire-framed walkers. via pinterest
The Glass Igloo Hotel
Hotel Kakslauttanen in Finland has traditional log cabins you can stay in, they also have traditional igloos made of ice, but the main attraction are these futuristic glass igloos where one can relax in room temperature splendor and take in the Northern Lights. Finland just made my vacation list.

Street Realism from M-E-S-A
I'm really impressed with all the large-scale realism that's going on these days. It's not exactly a new movement, but it seems to be growing and there certainly is a lot of beautiful stuff to be seen out there. These pieces above are from Spanish artist, M-E-S-A and you can see much more of his work, both on walls and on canvas, here. Enjoy. via NotCot

Rolling Bar - Turn a Trunk into a Drinks Cabinet
We've all seen repurposed suitcase projects before, but I'm especially digging on this rolling bar by prop man, Dane Holweger. Complete instructions on how to make a home for your own carry-on cocktails over at ReadyMade.

The Graphic Restraint of Patrick Macomber
Simple and bold, just like I like it. I'm digging all of Macomber's work right now, but I gotta say, that illustration of Wallace Shawn from the Princess Bride...genius. via Grain Edit

Awesome DIY Skull Make Up by Abby Davis
Ooh, I love this tutorial. Abby does a great job describing the whole creepy process. Nice!
Aquarium
File this under the already bloated category of "wish I would have thought of that". The filmmaker responsible for the piece, Tobias Zetner manages to create a world in which physics operate quite differently, by visually challenging our perspective about how water should work. Brilliant. See the film here.

MLK Portrait from Rubik's Cubes
I've featured some Rubik's Cube art here in the past, but nothing on this scale and certainly nothing as impressive as Peter Fecteau's MLK portrait. Bravo.

The Quantum Table - Particle Physics Makes for Nice Furniture
Totally captivated by Jason Phillips' Quantum Table this morning. It's not often that I look at furniture design these days and immediately think "timeless", but I can easily picture this in a mid-century living room or ripped from the pages of a contemporary design in Dwell magazine. Very, very slick. via Design Milk
Swiss Miss on a Roll
Sometimes, as a blogger, you've just got the hot hand. There are streaks where you find cool thing after cool thing and your blog is populated with fresh, surprising, and beautiful stuff. Tina Roth Eisenberg (a.k.a Swiss Miss) is obviously in the middle of just such a streak. She has long been one of my favorite bloggers and a regular morning read, but she has been digging up some especially tasty stuff lately. If you haven't popped over to check her out, do yourself a favor.
Wear and Tear - The Paper Art of Flóra Vági
Super digging these paper brooches and objects by artist, Flóra Vági. It's always nice to be surprised by what people do with a medium that has been around for thousands of years. Fresh. More examples at Upon a Fold
